Roman Ruler Colt ‘Scores’ Impressively in Los Al Debut

I WILL SCORE (c, 2, Roman Ruler–Grassy Nellie, by Belong to Me) prepped for this career debut over the local strip dating back to early July, and perhaps tipped his hand with a number of bullet drills–most recently a six-panel move in 1:11.80 (1/10) here Sept. 4. Accordingly bet down to 6-5 favoritism, the hulking dark bay tracked the pace through a quarter-mile in :21.73 and took control soon after that juncture, spurting away to an open-length advantage turning for home. Racing a bit greenly in the lane, I Will Score was kept to his task and crossed the wire 5 1/2 lengths ahead of Mighty Moses (Candy Ride {Arg}). The final time for 5 1/2 furlongs was 1:03.04.
